Based on a four years survey of Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas growth in the main shellfish farming areas of Brittany from 1989 to 1992, this report is a first attempt to explain the differences between sites and years. The determinist growth models do not suit to this objective, for methodological and practical reasons. Nevertheless, they provide the conceptual basis of a global model by identifying the reliable environmental parameters for a statistical explanation of growth results. The present study proposes a methodology for a global statistical model using the main stages of the ecological and biological processes of shellfish growth. These propositions are based on the analysis of the determinist model's constraints, and also on the identification... |
